As Jo said in her post …….
“The last few days have been unusually brutal on the athletes and we have seen a big proportion of the usual drop outs coming very early in the race. The constant cold temperatures combined with unusual humidity seems to be causing a lot of the frost bite cases. This is my fifth year of being involved in the race and each one has been different in terms of conditions. It just goes to show that once again Mother Nature has truly tested the athletes – we don’t call this the coldest and toughest Ultra for no reason.”
